One of Ireland's best known contemporary artists, Sharkey has been active on the arts scene for nearly 35 years. In this time he has held a number of major exhibitions, including the 'Public Enemy Number One' show in 2010. Now based in Dublin he continues to paint new and exciting works.
Sharkey has not limited himself to only working on his art though. With his typical energy he has also been an actor, news presenter, political activist and briefly even ran for the Irish presidency. However through all this his passion for art has never waned and painting has helped him overcome the many obstacles in his way.
This stunning piece of art is a fine example of Sharkey’s work and is very similar in style to his current series “F*** Off Ya Can’t Afford It!”. One can look at this painting for hours and find new images in the swirls and interaction of colours on the canvas, or simply become transfixed and become lost in their own thoughts.
