The focus of William’s work is snapshots of people in time, from everyday scenes to intimate moments to larger than life multi-person portraits infused with energy and intrigue. In his paintings Will deals mainly with imagery from America in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.
“I’ve always had an interest in the space race but didn’t want to paint the actual launch or the astronauts or anything like that so instead I decided to focus on the crowd. In my research I kept finding all these incredible shots of the people who had lined up along the beach in Florida to watch the event. I loved the colours and the light and the fact they were all straining their necks to watch the rocket as it took off. “
